But now, since my exciting news! I won't be doing that. I'm going to be working at camp for 4 weeks this summer!!! I originally planned to work 2 weeks, one the beginning of July and one the beginning of August. But I prayed and asked God if I could work one extra week, a total of 3. When I talked to the people at camp they expressed how they needed help for 2 other weeks. My parents said I could work those weeks! I'm soooooo thankful that God has answered my prayer this way. With TWICE as much as I asked for. =D I'll be leaving on Sunday for 2 weeks! I get to see Samantha and I get to work one of those weeks with my friend, Kiley! Then I go back two more times.
We've celebrated 3 birthdays since my last post. Pete's 12th b-day was May 28. He had a good birthday. He's been showing his "growing" up lately. He's been less of a little boy and more of a "mature" older boy.
We also had a party for Daniel. His birthday was in January, but since he's 10 he got a party. We decided to have it in the summer. He had a sailing theme that I helped Mommy plan. One of my 4-H projects this year is to plan a child party, so I used his a good place to start!
Then today, June 24, we celebrated Joy's half birthday. (8 1/2) She got lots and lots of new toy food-her favorite thing to play. And some princess bubble bath.
June 8th, that fateful day. Samantha left for camp. She is gonna be gone for 6 weeks. (well, 2 weeks are already past....) Then a weekend visit. Then 2 more weeks of absents. (ok, so it wasn't really fateful.....it just sounded like a cool word to use)
We had a bake sale with 4-H at the June Dairy breakfast. Emily and I stayed for 5 hours, starting at 6am. I never get up that early. Ever. 5am is just too early! But I survived and it was we made a good profit. There was also some other people from our club there. While were were there Daddy and Pete went to get grain. Then that afternoon (this was the 19th) Emily and I went to a 8th grade graduation party for our friend, Shelby.
This week Emily and I went to the first of this summers youth group meetings. In the summer it's every Tuesday, whereas in the winter it's every 2 Sundays or so. A few Sundays ago Pete (and us) went to a meeting where they welcomed the incoming kids and said "adiós" to the graduating ones. During the summer it is only for high schoolers.
This week Emily and Pete have been going to horse camp. For 4 days they get to go all day and ride, groom, and learn about horses. They get to learn how to stack hay bales, clean pastures, water troughs, and buckets. They also have a lesson ways that horses and people relate to God.
Tomorrow (the last day), they have a program and potluck dinner for the whole family. Most of us will be going to that. =)
As I write this, I'm still very excited about camp. I'm also excited at the way God answered my prayer. He is always listening. Sometimes He chooses to not give what we want, but He has a reason. Even if we don't see it-now or ever-He still has a reason. Sometimes He gives exactly what we asked for. This is an amazing thing. We deserve nothing! Zilch. Nada. None. Sometimes He gives us more than we ask for-like He did for me. This is a mind blowing concept. That He would give us not only what we want, but twice, three times or mega amounts more than we ask. And all we have to do is ask.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
